About Javené, Brittany, France

Javené is situated a few kilometres south of Fougerès. Javené is similar is size to South Petherton with a population of circa 2,000 and has developed into a 'dormitory' town for Fougerès.
South Petherton has been twinned with Javené for many years and the towns enjoy a cordial relationship with residents taking it in turns to visit each other on alternate years.

There is much that looks familiar in the surrounding countryside as, in many ways, this part of France looks very much like Somerset. However there are many interesting cultural and historic differences to be explored in the region

The village centre boasts a fine Norman church, a modern community centre and library. On the outskirts of the town is a superb, modern sports complex. Local industry includes a large agro-chemical research station, farming and orchards.
